Sarah Hobson brings her long experience of working with community-based initiatives and rural women’s organizations in West Africa, South Asia, and Iran, particularly on issues of food systems and agro-ecological policy and practice. She is founder and advisor to Open Channels (UK) and a Senior Fellow at the Oakland Institute. From 2003-2015, she was Executive Director of New Field Foundation. She has served as a steering committee member for the Africa Grantmakers’ Affinity Group, the Global Alliance for the Future of Food and the AgroEcology Fund. Sarah also served as Executive Director of International Development Exchange (IDEX) and as consultant to the UN’s International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). For many years an independent writer and filmmaker, she has produced a number of television documentaries and published a number of books highlighting the experience and perspectives of marginalized communities.
