Addressing Grievances

Have a concern about the W+ Standard? If you have a concern or complaint relating specifically to the W+ Standard, its processes, team members, or committee members, please send us an email at admin@wplus.org.

The W+ Standard is committed to integrity, transparency, and accountability. We welcome concerns or complaints that may help us identify and address issues related to the W+ Standard, its team and committee members, or its processes. This grievance mechanism applies specifically to matters concerning the W+ Standard.

If a grievance relates to a project applying the W+ Standard, please follow the project-level grievance mechanism outlined in the W+ Standard Guidance Document.

‍Who can submit a grievance?
‍A grievance may be submitted by anyone who has interacted with or been affected by the W+ Standard or its processes, including project developers, partners, and other stakeholders.

‍How to submit a grievance Please email us at admin@wplus.org and provide as much relevant information as possible.
You may include:
A description of the concern or incident
The person, process, or activity involved
The date or approximate timeframe
Any relevant supporting information or documentation

‍What happens after submission?
‍The team will:
1. Acknowledge receipt of the grievance.
2. Review the information provided and determine the appropriate person or body to handle it.
3. Refer grievances concerning the W+ Standard or its processes to the W+ Standard Committee.
4. Determine the appropriate course of action on a case-by-case basis when a grievance concerns a W+ team or committee member.
5. Contact the person who submitted the grievance if additional information is required and, where appropriate, provide an update on the outcome.

Grievances will be handled as confidentially as reasonably possible. Information will only be shared with those who need it to review and respond to the matter.

However, complete confidentiality may not always be possible if reviewing or responding to the grievance requires the involvement of other individuals.
